Professor Laurens Katgerman has 40 years of experience in the field of academia and research, specifically in the area of metallurgy and metals technology. He is Emeritus Professor of Metallurgy at Delft University of Technology (Netherlands). He is also Director & Owner of Katgerman Aluminium Technology, a company that specializes in the area of metals technology, specifically in aluminium technology, metals processing, casting & solidification, and process simulation. He was formerly Vice-Chair of the Cost Domain Committee on Materials, Physics, and Nano Sciences (MPNS). He has worked for over 10 years in the aluminium industry (Alcoa, and Alan International) in the United States and in UK. He was Professor of Metallurgy and Head of the Department of Light Metals Processing at Delft University of Technology (Netherlands). Since 1993, he is an elected member of the Koninklijke Hollandsche Maatschappij der Wetenschappen (Royal Holland Society of Sciences and Humanities). He has more than 200 ISI cited papers and publications and has a Hirsch (h) – factor 24. With co-authors Prof. D.G. Eskin and Dr M. Lalpoor, he was the recipient of the 2011 TMS Light Metals Subject Award.
