The Assessment Process
The criteria for the award of a WCI professional credential include relevant years of professional experience, demonstrated competence in a specialized field, and relevant qualifications obtained from recognized universities or WCI Accredited Institutions.
The assessment process is designed to examine, validate, and authenticate an applicant’s experiential skills, professional experience, qualifications, and specialized competence.
Determination of Credential Tier-Level
As part of the assessment, WCI evaluates the applicant’s overall professional profile to determine the appropriate credential Tier-Level:
- Tier 1 – Competent Level
- Tier 2 – Expert Level
- Tier 3 – Leadership Level
The Tier-Level awarded reflects the applicant’s depth of experience, demonstrated competence, specialist expertise, professional achievements, and level of responsibility within the relevant specialized field.
Independent Assessment and Adjudication
Applications are assessed against established standards and qualifying criteria by appointed WCI Adjudicators located around the world. The assessment involves a structured review and verification of the evidence submitted by the applicant, together with the application of WCI’s approved competency assessment framework. The assessment process normally takes approximately two weeks, subject to the completeness of the application and the availability of sufficient supporting evidence.
Composite Score
The assessment outcome is determined through a Composite Score, calculated from the aggregate scores obtained across six assessment categories. Each assessment category is assigned a specific weighting to reflect its relative importance in determining professional competence and eligibility for the appropriate credential award. The assessment categories and their respective weightings are aligned with WCI’s competency conformity standards. These standards have been deliberated and validated by selected committees of subject-matter experts and formally approved by the WCI Board.
Credential Verification
Every WCI Credential Award is assigned a unique 10-digit credential number. The validity and authenticity of a credential can be independently verified through the “Verify Credential” facility on the WCI website by entering the assigned credential number. This verification process provides employers, organizations, professional bodies, and other stakeholders with a convenient and reliable means of confirming the authenticity of a WCI Credential Award.
